perennial, shrubby species with royal blue and occasionally pale
blue flowers on short spikes up to 0.5m (20") long. It has soft

will seed reasonably freely and will hybridize. It is usually grown
from seed, though good forms may be grown from cuttings. |

Mix
Gazania grows well in
rock gardens or in hot, dry areas. Good soil gives best growth but
the plant tolerates poor, sandy soil. Gazania requires less water
than most annuals. Full sun is preferred and the flowers do not open
on wet or cloudy days. Removing the old blossoms will increase the
number of flowers produced.

Gerbera Daisy

Produces brightly
colored flowers on long stems. The plant can be grown in pots and
the flowers are good for cutting. Flowers are cut when the outer row
of petals show pollen. If cut sooner, the flowers will wilt. Use a
loose, well-drained soil containing good amounts of organic matter.
An acid soil prevents chlorotic plants. |
